Fine bed linen

When choosing bed-linen turn attention to the following general rules:

– the stronger the fabric, the better it is. The loose fabric is told a mile off – it’ll be torn after some washings.
– new linen shouldn’t scent of dampness, mold or chemical dyes. Smelling with dye linen will be bleeding during the washing.
– the material, from which the bed-linen is made, should be agreeable to the touch exactly for you.
– the better the packing – the better the product. It’s the rule of the market.
In our bedroom industry is popular three sizes: single, double and euro sizes. For children’s beds is produced a bed-linen of children’s sizes.

The quality, i.e. the number of threads per square centimeter, - is an important information, which is sometimes shown on the packaging of the high-quality bed-linen. The classification is like this: low density (20-30 threads per 1 cm2), below the average (35-40 threads), medium (50-60 threads), above the average (65-80), high (85-120) and very high (130-280). The harder the linen, the more durable it is. Low density has batiste; below the average and medium – linen, cotton; above the average – Turkish silk, synthetic fabrics; high – percale, Chinese silk, sateen, synthetic fabrics; very high – gloss sateen and Japanese silk.

On the packing also must be recommendations for care of linen, fabric and outline of all the items with indicating of their number. Pillow-cases can be fastened with buttons, zippers or to have a valve wrap. Duvet covers are made in the form of the pockets (with the wrap on the short side), complete with a zipper or buttons and rent in the middle. A sheet can be plain and fitted. What is better – is to the buyer’s choice, all depends on his tastes and the bed where he sleeps.

Fabric, from which the bed-linen is made, is also has a great importance. The most eco-friendly and historically the most practical material has always been flax. Flax has the remarkable properties: it warms during the cold season and gives refreshment during the most fervent heat. But such a linen is easily to wrinkle and hard to iron, and therefore today there are a lot of other variants of bed-linen fabrics.

Very hard and practical linen is from sateen (or Egyptian cotton): this fabric is strong, lucent and nice to touch. The only drawback of the real sateen – it’s a high price with comparison of other cotton fabrics.

Economically advisably is a bed-linen of cotton sheeting, which is both practical and rather beautiful. In our country such a bed-linen is very popular in particular because of its durability. They also like a flannel bed-linen, but when using it often, it is covered with fluffs and loses its initial look. The most economically acceptable can be called calico linen, but the good housewives know that calico linen gives under the frequent washings and quickly loses its color and becomes thinner.
